Dr. Joe Barton attended the University of Florida and earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1981. He then continued his studies in Gainesville and received his dental degree in 1986. That same year Dr. Barton opened his own private practice in Jacksonville, Florida. Since then, he has continued to stay up-to-date in the constantly changing field of dentistry to ensure that the guests in his practice benefit from his knowledge and expertise.
In 2004, Dr. Barton was one of the first three dentists in the country to earn the Mastership Award in Neuromuscular Aesthetic Dentistry from the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). The Mastership program requirements are rigorous, detailed, and time consuming. For Dr. Barton, it represented the ultimate proving ground for his continuing education and enhanced skills. Previous to the mastership award, Dr. Barton completed 
courses in advanced functional aesthetics, comprehensive aesthetic reconstruction, full-mouth reconstruction, coronplasty, and neuromuscular dentistry.
